There are writers and there are authors and then there are Wordplayers. If you’re one of the latter, then this exclusive group is just for you!
You guys are why I do what I do, and I want to create a special “street team” group that will give you early access to my upcoming writing how-to books, audiobooks, courses, and events–as well as exclusive giveaways and a special collaborative and troubleshooting writing group!
Here’s what’s involved in being a Wordplayer:
Whenever I have a new writing book coming out, Wordplayers will be notified early and given the opportunity to grab a free digital copy long before the book goes on sale.
- Even better, I will send you a free digital copy of any of my already published writing books.
- You get a free pass to the exclusive Wordplayer Facebook group, where you can ask me writing questions and interact with other serious writers.
- Throughout the year, you will have the opportunity to enter exclusive giveaways for books and other prizes. These giveaways will not be open to anyone but Wordplayers.
- No strings attached. You can leave the group at any time!
How to Join
Flash your Wordplayer credentials! Tell me which my writing books you’ve read. (This is required.)
- Fill out the rest of the below form to apply for approved membership.
- If your Helping Writers Become Authors library is incomplete and you’d like a copy of one my writing books, indicate its title below.
(Want special access to my fiction as well? Join my Super Readers group!)
Well hello JACKPOT. This sounds great! I stop back later. Just woke up and I’m still in my pre-coffee state. Brain takes a while to boot up.
Alright, I’m back. Now I’m in the close-to-consumption pre-coffee state, because I was too busy signing up for the awesome wordplayers group! Whoo-hoo! Gotta go now to do normal things like. Shower, work, slurping coffee. But not at the same time.
see ya!
Welcome aboard! And good luck with the coffee. 😉
This made my day. You didn’t see it, but I was dancing in the mirror, in the shower, then in my car (with clothes on). I’m as giddy as those two nerds in your photo. Now I have go sign up for your super readers group.
Thx!
We like giddiness around here. 😉
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure! 🙂
Oops! I accidentally put in the link to my review of one of your fiction books. Here the link to my review of one of your writing-craft books:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1604560076?book_show_action=false
Sorry about that!
Thanks, Alayna! Gotcha covered. You should receive confirmation to both the Wordplayer and Super Readers groups. Thanks for joining up! 😀
This made my day! Super excited!
Makes my day that it made your day! 😀
So to confirm the super readers group I can just post that link here in the comments?
If you could resubmit the form, that would be great. Sorry for the hassle!
No problem.
This is a great idea. Love the opportunity to share the writing process with other writers and yourself as moderator. I’ve read two of your books on craft, which are helping me enormously to complete my first novel — so, yes, absolutely, I’m in. I’ll submit review soon. You’re very kind. Thank you. And congratulations on “Storming’s” recognition. That is a fun read. Story lives up to title.
Thanks, Roy! I appreciate your kind words. I hope the group and the goodies are a blessing to you!
Hi, Kate. I checked this link and discovered that my review appears only after selecting the five-star recommendation filter. Wish this went directly to it. My apologies.

Thanks so much, Roy!
Hi, Kate. Discovered I review “Structuring” on Amazon a while back; so I posted new view on Goodreads. Thanks.

I’d love to be a Wordplayer, but I’ve never read one of your books since I’ve not been able to find any where I live. I don’t have a credit card & can’t purchase one online. If I can find one in the local library, I’ll gladly read & review it, & then become a Wordplayer. 🙂
You’re in Canada, I think? (Judging from your email address.) You can find all my ebooks on the Canadian Amazon site.
Here is my link to a review of Conquering Writer’s Block: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1473854074
Hopefully I’ll make into the Super Reader’s group. And as far as making the best possible experience possible; I honestly don’t think it can get better that what it already is.
Thanks, Benjamin! You rock!
Hey Katie, I’m feeling weird because, though I’ve read Outlining Your Novel, I’ve never reviewed it. If I do that now (so I can provide a link to it) it will be evident to anyone (especially me) that I just did so. On the other hand, I really want to be a part of this Wordplayer group. What do you advise?
Yes, absolutely! Nothing wrong with that at all.
D:
I’m gonna have to confess something I’d really rather not say…
As active as I am around here, and as much as I’ve read of K.M.’s articles… I still haven’t finished reading any of her books. I tried a couple, but timed them stupidly right in the middle of hangovers from other books, and I just. Keep. Not. Reading them. T_T
*Goes to the corner and cries for hours in shame.*
Ohhh, it’s supposed to be a review for one of the WRITING books. I don’t have one of those.
Well, there went that. 😛
You can get 5 Secrets of Story Structure for free here on my site. However, my sales app seems to be broken at the moment (urgh!), so you might want to wait to try to download until later tomorrow.
Tsk, tsk. 😉
I’m SO SORRY. I just realized what I did wrong on the super readers group. I should have linked a review from a novel and not a writing craft book. Duh. Ugh…I knew something wasn’t clicking. I’ll go fix it now.
No problemo! Everything came through fine. I’ll be approving all current submissions later today.
I am a big fan of yout works. Keep inspiring! 🙂
E.A. Astar
Thank you! 🙂
Although i have bought the series of outlining and structuring book since last year i am very slow in reading them in favor of my writing project .As i am Greek it is required to me to use also a dictionary to identify my unknown vocabulary which is 3-8 words per page . for the moment my book project is abt 500- pages with 3 more outstanding books projects that require finishing mainly for layout and front page. Anyway the outline workbook helped me quite much though i write in between panstser and outliner!
Oh, wow! I’m so impressed. I’m in the process of learning my first foreign language–French–and I know how tough it is to read a foreign language book and get anything out of it. :p
Tres bien! I learn a lot more just by reading books in a different language. Helps with vocabulary building, conjugations, context and idioms.
A toute a leure!
This is great! Thanks so much for the chance to be a Wordplayer, Ms. Weiland.
Feels like I should wear a cape and announce my new status to the world…er, or maybe just keep the secret to myself. Some things are too good to share. 😉
Hmm. I’ll have to see about distributing capes to the members. 😉 With a big W on the back!
Sweet, I’ll take a Navy blue one!
Yeah, navy blue sounds good. With a big, white W on the back. Then I’d have to get a matching mask.
Now we’re talkin. I wouldn’t do tights though, that’d be weird. I’d be the first superhero to wear shorts. Or maybe sweatpants. But I guess it’d clash with the cape.
I thought you’d go for that. 😉
I know, we should sport some kind of logo or wordplayer sigil we can stick on our armor. Behold, the house of the wordplayers!
How long will this offer be open for? I’ve been following your blog, but I’ve never gotten around to reading your writing books. (I really should. I love your blog.)
Fuh-evah-n-evah. Seriously. 😉 When you’re ready to join, you can find the permalink over in the left sidebar (look for the Wordplayers icon) or in the Resources section, linked at the very top of the site.
A pleasure to be invited, thanks, Katie!
I’ve already reviewed a couple, but I left the link for one of them (and I own them all, and recommend them all frequently, so I will get around to reviewing the others I own now!).
Thanks again … love your work 🙂
Thanks, Robert! So glad to have you aboard. 🙂
My review is in the process of being posted (they’ll let me know when it’s live). I’ve been staying away from Amazon reviews, just because I thought they were cracking down on reviewing people you “know.” But I’ve dipped my toe in just to see; hopefully mine passes muster.
Thank you, Jamie! And if it doesn’t get approved for whatever reason, just let me know, and I’ll make sure you get into the group anyway.
It’s up! I’ve linked. I came back to join the Super Readers group, too.
Thanks, Jamie! Be sure to submit through the form in the post above, so that I have your information and can send you the link to join the FB group.
I’d love to be part of this and the Super Reader group, but I don’t have an Amazon account. Both my parents do though. So would it be okay if I posted a review under one of their names?
Yep, that would be fine! Or you could post to Goodreads, your blog, or any other review site, if you’d prefer.
Okay, thanks so much!
Wow! Thank you. I am missing only 3 of your books. I write Amazon reviews with the name below.
Wow, you’ve almost got the full set! 😀
I don’t have an Amazon account, can I post a review on my blog?
-Abbie
Absolutely. Doesn’t matter where you post it: your blog, Goodreads, Amazon, B&N, Kobo, etc.
Ok. Thank you! I’ll be joining shortly. 🙂
-Abbie
