These days, an author’s credo pretty much has to be: Have website, will sell books. Without a professional home the web, you’re missing an important opportunity to attract new readers and solidify your reach among those already interested in following you. That’s why I’m excited to be able to bring you an opportunity to win some free domain names courtesy of NameCheap.

As important as it is to have a website, it’s just as important to choose a professional domain name (something I learned later than I would have liked, having only ditched my “blogspot” URL within the last year or so). So here’s your chance!

What Will You Win?

The winner will receive three (count ‘em three!) domain names.

Two runners-up will receive one domain name apiece.

How Can You Enter to Win the Free Domain Names?

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on the post. The winner will be drawn next Friday, January 24th. Good luck!

  1. Sounds useful. I think I could use some free domains in the future!

  2. This is a great promotion! I’ve been looking into expanding my web presence, possibly buying domain names for each of my books, or for the publishing imprint the hubby and I may start this year. This would be a big help, financially!

Thanks for the helpful posts on this blog…I’ve found myself here several times in the past few weeks, clicking through from Google+!

  3. What a great giveaway! I have learned so much from your blog already, so this is lagniappe!

  4. Maria Jordan-O'Reilly says:

I have been working on creating a ‘free’ web sight, but a peopler domain name would be very useful at this point as I am just ready to release it into the wild!

  5. Love your YouTube videos.

I want to be a king in my own domains, all three of them. I need a kingdom.

  10. I have two blogspot blogs and have contemplated a third just for my writing. For two years now I’ve been toying with a domain name but money is an issue and I could never figure out which host to go with. This is such a great opportunity. Thank-you!

  11. I’ve been blogging for two years now but i’ve never tried my own domain. I’ve always sort of thought “when i get published i’ll do it” but having one now would be awesome!

  12. Even if you already have a domain name, remember that you might want more. For an example of this, search for the official White House website… but be very careful of which link you clicked. I’m betting someone wishes they would’ve gotten more than just the .gov address for that one…

  13. I would LOVE to win! :D

  14. Steve Mathisen says:

This idea seems to have generated a lot of traffic! ;)

  15. I’ve had my own domain for my pen name since the early days. If I win, I will have to decide whether to register the variations or buy one for the title of my book. ;-) Thanks for sharing this opportunity, nice lady!

  85. I’d put two to use this year! Thanks for the chance.

  86. I’m so ready to ditch blog spot too! Just can’t get up my nerve. Maybe if I won a free domain name I’d have no excuse not to make the jump!

  93. K.M, you offer such excellent advice and the occasional free book (just started reading The Memory Lights last night) so I feel like we should be doing something for you. 106. Brent Wells says:

This sounds like a great giveaway! I would love to have domain names not only for my fiction but for blogging, as well.

  107. Victoria Jaczko says:

After a lot of hosting issues and hemming and hawing, I’m ditching the pen name and overhauling my web presence into something lower maintenance. It’s great, but I feel uncomfortable advertising one of those “yourname.hostingcompany.com” addresses and I, ah, already paid for my pen name domain just a few months ago.

I want a domain under my real name, but feel ridiculous buying up another one again. I was feeling pretty between a rock and a hard place on it, and then this post came up… so here’s hoping!

Thanks a ton for the great sweepstakes!

  108. I’d love to win…prepping to revamp my blog, anyway.

    Blessings,
    Voni

  112. Thanks for the offer and all the useful content here.

  113. Ooooo, this could be so very helpful. ^^

  114. H R Hanson says:

I receive email updates for your site, and I’m always excited to open them because you have good information and things like this giveaway. On the downside, I wish I could see an actual title to your emails so I’d have some idea of what is in them so I’m not tempted to delay opening them!

    • K.M. Weiland | @KMWeiland says:

Sadly, I think that’s just Feedburner’s default mode. I may switch to a different program one of these days.

  115. S.R. Arora says:

Thanks for this! It’s a great opportunity for many, though I don’t really have a website, eh. I’m trying to make one. It’s so trickky! :D

  116. I’m very interested! I have ‘TheGeekMemoirs.com’ as my current domain, but having something like AlexTanner.com or AlexTannerBooks.com would be much better! :D

Yay! A chance at free stuff!!

  120. Awesome!

  121. This is what I’ve been searching for! And I need a free domain for my 2 years old blog! You may know why I really need this domain.
    1. It’s not like those stupid free domains which are just meant for self promotion. You’re providing us something very useful. Domain Names.. I couldn’t really believe it but obviously, I wasn’t reading wrongly. It’s a good one for sure.
    2. I am a blogger myself and currently have a blogs. But obviously I intend to expand the scope of blogging. There are some niches which I haven’t covered in my present blogs. You’re providing me with the domain names which means a part of my investment is done. :-)
Well, I have just two reasons for why I want this domain.
    Thank you :)

  122. Monique Rangel says:

Count me in, too. Thanks for the great contests!
