Vote for the Dreamlander Launch Party Grand Prize!

By K.M. Weiland | @KMWeiland

The time has finally come when I can officially announce the release date for my upcoming fantasy novel Dreamlander. December 2, 2012, is the big day! I’ll be spending all of this month celebrating, with a special series of blog posts, on Sundays and Wednesdays, focusing on what I learned while writing this book, and some plain ol’ fun posts on Fridays. And, of course, it will all culminate in a Grand Prize Drawing on launch day.

I had so many fun ideas for prizes that I couldn’t pick between them. So I decided to let you choose!
Please take a minute to vote on which of the following three prizes you’d like to see offered in the Dreamlander Launch Party Prize Drawing:

Prize A: A 17th-century Italian rapier (much like the one Chris uses in the book). Value: $245

Prize B: A Kindle Fire. Value: $199

Prize C: Deluxe Fantasy Gift Box. Value: $165

• Black Velvet Renaissance Cloak
• Calligraphy Pen Set (includes quill pen with calligraphy nib, 5 extra calligraphy nibs, and ink pot with 15 ml black ink)
• Dragon Bookmark
Anatomy of the Castle Coffee Table Book by John Gibson
• Sword Pendant Necklace (the sword actually comes out of the sheath!)
• Delusional Unicorn Magnet
• Truffettes de France All Natural French Truffles Dusted with Cocoa Powder (2.2 lbs)

And be sure to check back all this month to join the pre-launch fun!

I love the cover of Dreamlander. Truly fascinating. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Huzzah! Very sincere and enthusiastic congratulations! I'm greatly looking forward to your new book and the upcoming series of posts.

Thanks for all you've shared so far. Your work (in print and on blog) is treasured by many.

Your cover is amazing! Just signed up to follow your blog. Your Outlining book was terrific! Thanks for all your hard work.

@Gillian: Thank you! Artist Dominick Finelle did an amazing job on it.

@Nathaniel: It should be a fun series. I hope everyone enjoys it.

@Christina: Welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed Outlining Your Novel.

Wow, the cover is gorgeous!! I'm definitely going to get my hands on this book.

Question: Will people outside the US be able to enter?

  6. K.M. Weiland November 2, 2012 at 10:22 AM

I haven't totally hammered down contest details regarding international entries, but I'm definitely wanting to make that work.

I agree with the others that the cover looks great. As for the prize voting, I'm a big sword geek and would like a little more information about the rapier before I vote!

  8. Linda Yezak November 2, 2012 at 10:51 AM

*Great* cover! Can't wait to have that book in my grubby little paws! Proud of you, as always!

  9. K.M. Weiland November 2, 2012 at 11:14 AM

@Ben: The sword is a Museum Replicas piece. More info here.

@Linda: Couldn't have done it without you!

  10. Jon Spell November 2, 2012 at 1:49 PM

The sword looks like Inigo Montoya's sword from the Princess Bride. (Of course, that would have been a Spanish sword.)

I've really been enjoying reading your blog while I geared up for NaNo. Thanks for all the tips!

  11. K.M. Weiland November 2, 2012 at 1:58 PM

Glad to hear you've found the posts helpful!

  12. Ben November 2, 2012 at 5:19 PM

Thanks for the extra info. That is a nice sword indeed. It's no stainless steel wallhanger; it's made of tempered, high carbon steel. Awesome! As much as I'd love a Kindle, I'm voting for the sword.

  13. K.M. Weiland November 2, 2012 at 6:25 PM

I'm pretty keen on the sword myself. ;)

  14. Anonymous November 2, 2012 at 9:37 PM

As much as I love the sword, the kindle would be awesome for my mom who is acquiring vision problems. So I'm voting for the kindle :) Thanks for the opportunity to win a prize!

The cover looks SIK!! Totally amazing!! I definitely want to read this JUST from seeing the cover! =D

I'm looking forward to your new book. It looks great.

  16. Anna L. Walls November 3, 2012 at 12:42 AM

Those are all great offers but I simply had to choose the sword. I love swords. That's an awesome cover too.

  17. K.M. Weiland November 3, 2012 at 10:01 AM

@Leauphaun: I love my Kindle Keyboard. It's great for the eyes, great for wrists (that no longer have to support giant hardcover books), and great for saving space.

@J.T.: Thank you! I hope you enjoy it.

@Anna: Yes, swords are hard to beat for sheer coolness!

  18. Pure Grace November 3, 2012 at 10:14 AM

WOW. Those prizes are awesome. I'm speechless. I'm supposed to vote?

Oh, hey, I'm new here, but totally stuck. I'm a writer (a fellow fantasy novelist, at that) and I am so excited to start following you. I ADORE other writing blogs and well, other writers!

The novel cover looks deliciously enticing. Can't wait till I am that close to publishing.

Welcome aboard! (Love your avatar, BTW.)

  20. Susan Flett Swiderski November 3, 2012 at 8:30 PM

Holy moley, what amazing prizes! Much to my surprise, I've recently discovered that I actually like a good fantasy book, so what better fantasy tool than that sword? Wow! Good luck with your new book.

  21. K.M. Weiland November 4, 2012 at 2:39 PM

Fantasy is a lovely genre: one of my favorites (obviously!). So much scope for the imagination, as Anne Shirley would say. The possibilities are simply endless. I'm glad you've discovered the genre!

  22. Melissa November 7, 2012 at 3:56 PM

    Love the cover! :)

  23. K.M. Weiland November 7, 2012 at 3:57 PM

    Thank you!

  24. Marlene E. November 19, 2012 at 12:31 PM

Ermahgersh, I would completely go with option C). And the cover is FANTASTIC!

  25. K.M. Weiland November 19, 2012 at 1:11 PM

I got a grin out of how perfectly your avatar matches your comment!

  26. Silas P. Rafferty December 1, 2012 at 11:35 AM

Although it's a different one on the book's cover, there is a sword, so I voted for that.

  27. K.M. Weiland December 1, 2012 at 11:36 AM

Yes, it's not the same one used by the cover model. The one in the prize package is actually closer to how I envisioned some of the swords in the book.
